Like every kid making a racket in the mid-90s with a boombox and 56k dial-up, I started a cassette label to spread my freshly cooked garbage far and wide. A typewriter and a copy machine provided most of the artwork. It was basically all improvised noise - I was theoretically saving my songs up for a proper album, not some piece of crap I'd record at home and self-release with xerox art. Well, the joke was on me...

In late '99 I finally upgraded to a computer with a functional soundcard and CD burner, and Silver Circle Records was born. Same shit as before, only now the finished product was a CD-R with rough laser printed artwork. A lateral move in ways, but being able to edit music digitally instead of doing everything on the fly with tape decks opened more doors creatively. I begrudgingly recorded six solo albums at home on four-track between 1999 and 2003, all the while trying and failing to recruit drummers willing to tolerate my weird song structures and weirder attitude.

As the 25th anniversary of these albums arrived, I decided to remix and reissue them as a package deal. I dug out all of the original master tapes and fired up the old TASCAM Portastudio. I went song by song, trying to capture the best mix I could, addressing a number of issues that always irritated me about the original mixes. On average, I did three mixes of each song, though some got it in one and some took much, much longer. I'm sure there are a number of tools that, were I masquerading as a professional, could have improved the quality of these mixes: compression, autotune, more diligent EQ... Regardless, they still sound better than the versions that came out decades ago.

I'd planned on an actual box of some sort - each disc contains front, back, and double-sided liner artwork - but for now the most physical it gets is a lightly branded USB stick containing lossless and 320kb mp3 folders for every album, applicable artwork, a 35-page PDF with my scintillating recollection of the circumstances surrounding these recordings, and 55 additional "bonus" tracks including alternate live, rehearsal, and demo versions from 1996-2006. So, you can scroll down and listen to all six albums (plus a bonus disc of other shit) in mp3 format, or you can e-mail me and we'll arrange purchase and delivery of the "static capsule".
